Manufacturers Make Big Investments, Creating New Jobs In Carroll County

On Tuesday, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce officials released new job numbers and their financial impact from the first half of 2018. Figures from the first two quarters of this year mark at least the third consecutive year where more than 350 new jobs were created in the first six months.

According to the Vice President of Economic Development for Carroll Tomorrow, JR Charles, there were 376 new jobs created in Carroll County during the first half of 2018. Compare that to 352 new jobs in the first half of last year.

The new jobs so far this year were part of an investment of $145 million for the county. This is compared to an investments of $73.4 million in the first two quarters of 2017.

Charles said several manufacturing plants have contributed majorly to 2018Â’s growing numbers.

“Magna is adding 41 jobs and they are investing $12 million dollars. OFS is investing $59 million and creating 149 new jobs. And Dytech is creating 33 new jobs and investing $8 million dollars,” said Charles.

Charles said new payroll numbers produced by the added jobs in Carroll County so far in 2018 is about $12.6 million.
