Elderly Resident Victimized By Scam Involving Deputy Impersonation

Someone impersonating a Deputy from the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office is calling Haralson County residents and attempting to scam them. The fake deputy, who is using the name Lt. Bowman, is telling them they have a bench warrant and must give him money to get rid of the warrant. The Haralson County Sheriff’s Office does not have a Lt. Bowman.

The S/O started receiving calls about this scam early Friday morning and as of Friday afternoon, they did have one reporting victim who paid nearly $1500 to the scammers. The victim was over the age of 60 which tends to be a target group for scammers.

Please talk to your older friends, neighbors, and family members about these scams.

The Haralson County Sheriff’s Office will never call you and ask for money to take care of a warrant.
