Haralson County Sees Rise in October Unemployment Rate

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Haralson County recorded an unemployment rate of 3 percent in October, up six-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3 percent.

 “Job seekers have continued to experience a favorable hiring environment across multiple job sectors, despite a slight uptick in unemployment rates,” said Commissioner Butler. “As we prepare for peak holiday hiring, we encourage job seekers to take advantage of the many employment opportunities, both full-time and part-time, available across Georgia.”

 The labor force increased in October by 69 to 13,169. That number rose by 287 over the year.

 Haralson County ended October with 12,768 employed residents. That number decreased by 13 in October and was up 272 as compared to last year.

 Initial claims for unemployment were up 40 percent in October. When compared to last October, claims were down about 3 percent.

 Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed 169 active job postings in Haralson County for October.
