BPD arrest couple linked to multiple brazen, in- plain-sight, thefts

#BremenGA Police on Wednesday arrested a Rockmart couple they believe have been responsible for stealing many high-dollar items from numerous department stores in west and northwest Georgia over the last month.

“These two have been walking into stores like Wal-Marts and simply walking back out with large televisions they did not pay for,” Bremen Police Chief, Keith Pesnell told WLBB Radio. “There are reports of a pair stealing TVs from stores in Hiram, Summerville and locally. We believe these two are the ones responsible for those.”

According to the BPD investigation report, Wednesday afternoon, surveillance video shows CHRISTOPHER DERRELL WILLIAMS and CHRISTAN LABRAY SHEPARD walking out of the Bremen Wal-Mart with two 55-inch televisions, without attempting to pay for them.

When the pair was apprehended by Bremen Police, officers discovered the two had warrants issued in numerous other jurisdictions.

“I am grateful to our investigators and officers for – hopefully — putting an end to a scheme, that frankly, we’re just learning how far it has reached,” Pesnell said. “ Being able to locate these two started with the fine work of the Bremen Wal-Mart’s Loss Prevention Detectives.”

Pesnell says investigators suspect the pair had been stealing the expensive televisions then possibly selling them at a price less than their suggested values. The couple’s alleged actions remain under investigation.
