70-year old Temple man charged with voluntary manslaughter

A 70-year old Temple man is in the Carroll County Jail after investigators say he shot his female partner in the head, which resulted in her death.

According to Carroll County deputies, Monday morning around 04:23, Barry Black [70yoa] called 911 and informed the 911 operator that he had just shot his wife [Brenda Bowman – 45yoa] in the head.

Black informed the 911 operator that he still had possession of the firearm he shot his wife with and was waiting for first responders to arrive.

Once first responders arrived at 1813 Old Draketown Trail Temple, Ga. they discovered Brenda Bowman in the couple’s bedroom with a fatal gun shot wound to her head.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into the matter.

During the investigation it was learned that statements given and evidence discovered at the scene conflicted.

Subsequently, Barry Black was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter.

The investigation is still ongoing at the time.
