Recidivist accused of beating and kidnapping former partner. Suspect has lengthy criminal record over last 15 years.

A 36-year old Bowdon man faces numerous charges including kidnapping and aggravated assault – after Carroll County investigators determine he beat a former-partner and kept her against her will and without lawful authority. Cody Ross Williamson was taken into custody Monday.

According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office report:

On 09/19/2023 deputies were dispatched to 102 Mitchell Rd in reference to a welfare check/domestic dispute. While en route Deputies were advised that Cody Williamson was holding (MM) hostage and there was screaming and fighting in the background. Deputies arrived and made contact with the victim hiding in the wood line.

(MM) said that she went over to Cody’s residence and he was supposed to bring her home, but refused.

She advised Deputies that Cody kidnapped her and beat her. She had visible swelling and bruising to her eye along with other bruises on her body. The swelling was to the point of her eye almost being closed.

(MM) said that Cody became violent and beat and strangled her until she almost passed out.

She told Deputies that she tried to call 911 but Cody took her phone and hid it.

(MM) said that Cody forced her into a vehicle by pulling her arm. She said that she asked him multiple times to stop but that only angered him.

According to the report, Cody drove her around all day and eventually went back to 102 Mitchell Rd. She got out of the vehicle and there was another struggle. Cody pushed her to the ground and strangled her.

The victim said that once she got up, she picked up a crowbar and Cody left her alone.

She said she found her phone and called her friend who called 911. Cody then left the premises, according to the report.

Warrants were taken on Cody for Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, False Imprisonment, Kidnapping, and obstruction of 911 call. Williamson was arrested on September 25th.

Over the last 15 years, Williamson has been accused of beating up a parent over money, damaging property of an elderly relative over money, false imprisonment, robbery, forgery, driving with a suspended license multiple times, financial transaction card theft and fraud, fleeing or evading police or roadblock, and theft by taking, according to Carroll County Court records.

Williamson remains in the Carroll County Jail on Wednesday.
