Buchanan man facing Agg Assault charge after firing gunshots and attempting to start fire in residence, and threatening to shoot dog

(Press Release issued by Haralson County Sheriff’s Office upon request)

On May 2, 2024, Deputies were dispatched to 1318 Susie Pope Road in reference to a dispute. On arrival, Deputy Vivian Jensen spoke to the victim and was advised that her boyfriend had become physically abusive, including slamming her head against the floor, biting her, and not letting her leave. The victim advised that the offender had run into the woods. Deputy Jensen was able to observe injuries on the victim and document them. Investigators and Crime Scene were contacted and came out to take over the investigation. During that on-scene investigation, it was discovered that the offender, Connor Ridley, threatened to shoot the victim’s dog, had fired multiple shots inside and outside the residence and he had attempted to set multiple fires inside the home.

The crime scene was processed by our Crime Scene Investigator and other investigators while others began to search for Ridley, who had run into the woods before Law Enforcement arrived. A manhunt began for Ridley, and deputies, investigators and members of the Crime Suppression Unit captured him a short time later on Crossroads Church Road.

Connor Jeff Ridley, a 26-year-old W/M out of Buchanan, GA has been arrested and is currently charged with Aggravated Assault, Criminal Attempt to Commit Arson, Reckless Conduct, Battery FVA, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and False Imprisonment. This case is still under investigation and there could be additional charges.
