University Of West Georgia Will Suspend Instruction Temporarily Amid Statewide Corona-Virus Concern

Effective Monday, March 16, 2020, the University of West Georgia will temporarily suspend instruction for two weeks to allow time for the institution to test its business continuity plans and online instruction modules and for state officials to continue to assess the current situation regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) in Georgia.

UWG students on campus are asked to depart campus by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020, and to remain away from campus until March 29, 2020. At this time, students are not being asked to move out of their residence halls for the remainder of the semester.

If you live in a UWG residence hall, please stay tuned for more detailed instructions concerning the next two weeks. This communication will be shared as soon as possible.

While UWG does not currently have any presumptive positive cases of COVID-19, this measure is being taken out of an abundance of caution to protect the safety and wellbeing of our students, faculty, staff, and community. Further guidance will follow as the situation warrants.

For more information on future updates at UWG, please visit the universityÂ’s COVID-19 informational page (https://www.westga.edu/student-serviÂ…/Â…/coronavirus-info.php).

Please continue to remain mindful of guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (https://www.cdc.gov) and the Georgia Department of Public Health (https://dph.georgia.gov).
