Suspects Take $1000 From Waffle House Safe & Register During Friday Morning Armed Robbery

Tallapoosa Police are investigating the alleged armed robbery of a Waffle House restaurant early Friday morning.

“Officers responded to the Waffle House located at 1021 GA Highway 100 at about 7:30 this morning,” Investigator Mark Worthy told WLBB Radio. “We learned that three individuals had participated in an armed robbery there.”

Worthy said there were no customers in the restaurant when the three suspects entered. However, numerous employees were inside.

“Witnesses say three suspects walked in, dressed all in black— at least one was brandishing a weapon,” Worthy said. “The suspects gathered all of the employees behind the counter. Made the employees crawl into the back room. They cut the locks on the safe and took money from it. One of them took money from the register. They ran out the back door.”

Investigators believe the suspects left with approximately $1,000.

Worthy says the suspects apparently left the scene on foot. He believes at least one of the suspects was a female.

Worthy says TPD investigators have reached out to authorities in Douglas County to compare notes on a “similar” armed robbery on Lee Road last Friday.

“We are thinking that the two may be connected,” Worthy said.

Anyone with information on this morningÂ’s robbery should contact Investigator Mark Worthy with the Tallapoosa Police Department.
