State Patrol and GBI Bust Meth Traffickers On I-20

The Georgia State Patrol and the GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office charged two men from Tupelo, Mississippi with drug trafficking after law enforcement found them in possession of a significant amount of methamphetamine during a traffic stop outside the city of Villa Rica.

Special Agent Daniel Sims in charge of the West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office said at approximately 5:00pm on Wednesday, Georgia State Patrol stopped a white Dodge Journey traveling west-bound on I-20 for an equipment violation. He said the traffic stop resulted in established probable cause of drug activity and the vehicle was subsequently searched.  The search yielded the seizure of a sizable quantity of methamphetamine. Both individuals were arrested and processed into the Carroll County Jail. Sims would not release additional details in order to maintain the integrity of the continuing investigation.
