Relief Efforts Underway To Get Meals Out To Kids Home From School This Month; Donations Requested

West Georgia Disaster Relief Partners have started efforts to collect and distribute food to local families in need, as our region deals with coronavirus concerns.

This relief is primarily for the families with children, who as a result of schools being cancelled, will not have access to breakfast and lunch meals while schools are suspended for the coronavirus pandemic.

-Because of the efforts of partners, Carroll County Schools will be running normal bus routes daily and giving out food to families from the bus.

-The community Christian council located in Tallapoosa is extending hours and increasing the number served on Monday night. CCC is also accepting donations of ready to eat, prepackaged foods such as pop tarts, ramen noodles, snack cakes, mac & cheese, peanut butter and jelly, canned goods that can be heated in a microwave and monetary donations.  Donations can be dropped off at the CCC in Tallapoosa 9 am – 12 pm Monday – Friday.

-The Carroll County Performing Arts Center, located on the Carrollton bypass, will be accepting ready-to-eat nonperishable foods Sunday, March 15 from 9-2 to be distributed in Carroll and Haralson counties. More times may be announced later.

More plans and programs will be put into place as the needs change and/or the partners identify additional resources and distribution outlets.
