Police Seek Identity Of Suspect In Alleged False Imprisonment/ Rape

Police are investigating the alleged rape and false imprisonment of a Tallapoosa woman inside of her home at the Tallapoosa Housing Authority on Arbacoochee Road this week.

Tallapoosa Police Lead Investigator Mark Worthy says the victim was sitting on her front stoop late afternoon/ early evening Monday when she was approached by a white male.

“There was still a little bit of light outside Monday, I believe… when, according to the victim, the male intimidated her… pushed her inside of her home,” Worthy told WLBB Radio. “Inside of her home, he held her captive for several hours and raped her numerous times.”

The victim told investigators that the male suspect finally left her home early Tuesday morning.

“Before he left, he had forced the victim to shower and clean,” Worthy says. “Things like that that he did, leads us to believe that this is not the first time the suspect has done something like this.”

Worthy says the victim was not able to give a reliable description of the suspect because the male forced her to hide her eyes in some manner.

Potential witnesses interviewed during the investigation have described seeing a white male get into a white truck, near the victim’s residence early Tuesday morning. The truck may have had an extended cab. “We don’t believe it had four doors though,” Worthy said.

Investigators are going through surveillance video from the area and any other potential information available from the home of the incident.

Tallapoosa Police encourage anyone in the area of Arbacoochee Road late Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning, who may have information helpful in the investigation, to contact their office.
