Police Arrest Man Accused Of Stabbing To Death Brother-In-Law

The man accused of stabbing to death his 23-year old brother-in-law late Thursday is now behind bars in Carroll County.

“Police received an anonymous 911 call about 9:10 pm of a fight going on at Wisteria Lane… which are those apartments behind Subway off Highway 27,” CPD Captain Chris Dobbs Told WLBB Radio. “An officer found a truck running, with the deceased victim sitting in the truck. He was stopped at the stop sign before Highway 113, leaving the sub-division.”

The victim is identified as Tyler Waters of Carrollton.

“Witnesses have come forward to confirm the name of the suspect,” Dobbs said. “The suspect is married to the victim’s sister. Supposedly, after the altercation, the suspect called his wife. Told her there had been a fight… and basically said ‘I’m out of here.’

The weapon used in the stabbing death was not immediately located.

An autopsy could be conducted on the body today.

30-year old Melvin “Cord”  Barkley was arrested this morning. A tip led officers to a home on Duncan Road in the Lowell community. Barkley was taken into custody without incident.
