Officers Follow Trail Of Broken Glass/ Early Morning High Speed Chase/ Suspect C

Tallapoosa Police officers who were investigating an early morning store break-in were able to track down the suspectÂ… then saw him as he did the same to a convenience store in the county a short time later.
The suspect led Tallapoosa Police Sergeant Jerry McIntire and Officer Kris Whitfield on a high speed chase into Alabama, where  they were able to apprehend him.
“Around 4:30 or so Wednesday morning, a car backed into the doors of the Tallapoosa Food Mart on West Atlanta Street, and knocked the glass out of them,” TPD Investigator Mark Worthy told WLBB Radio. “The guy entered the store, emptied the cash register and fled the scene. Of course the alarm was set off. Officers arrived and viewed the direction of broken glass that fell from the vehicle.”
Worthy says officers followed the trail of broken glass.
“Our officers viewed the suspect attempt the same routine at Ridley’s Quick Stop in the county out on Highway 78 west,” he continued. “Our officers chased the suspect into Alabama and were finally able to stop him in Fruithurst. He was driving a car stolen out of Wedowee. He’ll first be taken to the Cleburne County jail then we will see what can be done about extraditing him to Haralson County.”
Worthy has not yet released the suspect’s name although he does not believe he is a Tallapoosa resident.
