Mount Zion Will Improve Water Pressure With New Federal Grant

The City of Mount Zion learned Thursday that it is one of 59 Georgia communities to get a share of $41million in federal assistance grants.

The city received $558,000 via the community development block grant program. The funding, according to City Clerk Teresa Ferguson, will go toward a project designed to improve water pressure for 107 people living in the Harrison Road area. That total project is estimated to cost $625,000; Mount Zion is expected to use SPLOST dollars to cover what the new federal grant will not.

The city recently replaced 35-year-old water lines with upgraded pipes throughout the city. The new project targeting water pressure in the Harrison Road Area, is estimated to be complete by mid-2020.
