Five schools recognized by state DOE

Five schools from the Carroll County School System have been recognized for performance or improvement by the Georgia Department of Education.

Central Elementary, Ithica Elementary and Roopville Elementary were named 2022-23 Title I Distinguished Schools – the highest-performing 5 percent of Title I Schoolwide and Title I Targeted Assistance schools based on the combined English/Language Arts and Math content mastery scores from the statewide assessments of the most recent year.

Providence Elementary and Temple Elementary were named Title I Reward Schools – the greatest-improving 5 percent of Title I Schoolwide and Title I Targeted Assistance schools when comparing the content mastery scores from the most recent two years of statewide assessments.

“The success of these five schools demonstrates our commitment to academic excellence,” Assistant Superintendent of School Performance Dr. Jessica Ainsworth said. “Our overall goal is to help students focus on their future, and our teachers and leaders concentrate on providing innovative and creative learning opportunities that help students do this. We are very proud to celebrate our continued success in Carroll County.”

The GADOE honors successful schools who are making significant progress in closing the achievement gap and improving academic performance. Only 79 Georgia schools were named Distinguished Schools. Only 75 Georgia schools were named Reward Schools.
