Community Foundation of West Georgia Issues Second Round of GrantsĀ from COVID-19 Fund to Local Nonprofits

TheĀ Community Foundation of West GeorgiaĀ COVID-19 Response FundĀ has issued a second round of grants to local nonprofit organizations.Ā This weekĀ Manna House, the Salvation Army and theĀ THSĀ Emergency Shelter were issued a total of $11,500.Ā The Fund, focused on providing food and shelter, now has issued a total of $34,500.

Five nonprofits in Carroll, Haralson and Heard counties were awarded $23,000 in the first round of grants last week. They were Haralson County Community Christian Council, Heard County Food Pantry, Open Hands Christian Ministry, St. MargaretĀ’s Community Outreach and West Georgia Council on Aging.

Grants will be made on a rolling basis, andĀ InĀ order to move resources quickly, we are not hosting a formal application process for the COVID-19 Fund at this time. As fundraising continues through the outbreak and recovery phases of the crisis, the Fund will adapt to emerging needs as the situation evolves,Ā” said Kim Jones, president of the Community Foundation.

Ā“While the Fund is not able to provide grants to individuals, the Community Foundation will be funding community-based organizations that have experience and history of providing people and families with services and support,Ā”Ā shesaid. Individuals who need help can locate resources at the West Georgia Cares website,Ā westgacares.org.

Donations to the fund may be made at the home page of the Community FoundationĀ’s website atĀ cfwg.net, by text-to-give at Ā“GIVEWESTGAĀ” to 44321, or by check mailed to the Foundation at 807 South Park Street, Carrollton, Georgia 30117.

The Community Foundation isĀ asking local nonprofits toĀ send e-mails toĀ kim@cfwg.netĀ to make sureĀ it isĀ aware of the organizationĀ’s work supporting local residents.

The Community FoundationĀ alsoĀ will be working alongside Tanner Health SystemĀ’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, which is helping with costs associated with all aspects of the diagnosis, treatment and stabilization of COVID-19 patients throughout the Tanner Health System.
