Community Foundation Announces Grants Totaling $26,388 To 28 Teachers from Alice Huffard Richards Arts Enrichment Fund

The Community Foundation of West Georgia today announced grants totaling $26,388 to 28 local teachers from The Alice Huffard Richards Arts Enrichment for Our Children Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation.

This is the twelfth year of grants from the Alice H. Richards Arts Enrichment for Our Children Fund with distributions of up to $1,000 each to 28 art, music and drama teachers representing 23 schools in Carroll, Haralson and Heard counties.

This fund was established to honor Mrs. Richards and her commitment to and belief in the importance of the arts for children.  Art, music and drama teachers in public schools’ grades Pre-K through 12 located in Carroll, Haralson and Heard counties, are eligible each year to apply for funds from the grant program to purchase supplies and supplemental teaching materials or to secure the services of an outside artist.

Schools receiving grants and their programs were:

Bay Springs Middle School:  Smart Art and Keep the Music Playing;

Bowdon Elementary School:  art program;

Bowdon High School:  Keep Firing It Up!;

Bowdon Middle School: start-up for new art program;

Bremen High School: percussion equipment;

Bremen Middle School: Leave Your Mark!;

Carrollton Elementary School:  innovative robot collage and Pentatonic Patterns;

Carrollton Junior High; Art Around the Earth;

Central Elementary School:  art program;

Central High School: new method books;

Central Middle School:  3D printer;

Heard County High School: BraveLIFE Branding Initiative;

Ithica Elementary School:  general music class and production supplies;

Mt. Zion Elementary School:  art program;

Mt. Zion High School: Cultivating Quality;

Providence Elementary School:  Gothic Cathedral Adornment;

Roopville Elementary School:  Music for Kids and Community;

Sand Hill Elementary School:  general music curriculum and production supplies;

Sharp Creek Elementary: instrument storage;

Temple Elementary School: Gothic Cathedral Adornment;

Temple High School: Digitize the Arts;

Temple Middle School: Art – Outside the Box;

Villa Rica High School: Drama Through Oral Literacy, Music Institute and piano lab update and repairs.
