CHS Senior Noori Chosen As ISDS Star Student

CARROLLTON, GA — Carrollton High School senior Georgia Noori has been selected by the Georgia Department of Education as an International Skills Diploma Seal (ISDS) STAR student.

According to the GaDOE website, the International Skills Diploma Seal is awarded to graduating seniors who complete an international education curriculum and engage in extracurricular activities and experiences that promote the achievement of global competencies. In addition, it makes employers and higher education institutions aware that a student is prepared to participate in the global economy.

Each year, schools across the state can nominate one student who encompasses all the values of ISDS.

Josefina Gemebe, a Spanish teacher at CHS, said Georgia is accomplished academically and global-minded.

“Her outstanding academic achievements and global mindedness are awe-inspiring,” said Gembe. “She is a member of our International Baccalaureate program and will complete year two of Spanish in our IB program. In addition, Georgia has had the opportunity to live in a Spanish-speaking country and has presented to my classes. Her dedication to continuing her language and cultural studies is phenomenal.”

Georgia said learning another language has given her more opportunities to connect with many people.

“Learning another language has opened my eyes to an entire world of art, culture, media, music, food, and so much more that I otherwise would not have known. Because of my love and deep interest in language learning and developing a broader understanding of the world, it is an honor to be awarded the ISDS.”
