Carrollton Mainstreet to Update Amp Park with Active Park Amenities

Carrollton Mainstreet is in the process of turning an under-utilized park space adjacent to the Carrollton Amp, into an active park.

Mainstreet Director, Aundi Lesley says that Carrollton Mainstreet has recently purchased ping pong tables, corn-hole boards, a foos-ball table and a chess table, which will all be set up permanently just off the square.

“We did several community workshops, just about every time I heard someone mention how many parks we have in Carrollton. Several people mentioned that some of them were wasted space. They were beautiful spaces but there was nothing to do in them,” said Lesley. “We really wanted to create an active park. We started researching on things to do and we thought it would be really cool to put something in the Amp Park. It is very underutilized. the only time people are there is when we have concerts.”

The new weather resistant equipment should be installed and ready to use by summer.

“We wanted to do something that will bring people downtown and give them something to do whether they are just hanging out, waiting for a table at a restaurant or after dinner grabbing a drink or two.”

Leslie said the equipment was purchased with proceeds from the 2018 Taste of Carrollton event.
