Carroll County Weighing Option For Increasing Security

The Carroll County School district is to receive an additional $112,000 in state funding that is to go towards safety enhancements.
The districtÂ’s safety committee is considering a number of options for the funding.

“We could possibly purchase an additional shield system. We currently do not have a shield system in any of our high schools,” Assistant Superintendent, Terry Jones announced this week. “We could add buzzer control functions to the front entrance to our schools that currently do not have that function. Additional card reader access control for exterior doors, a lot of our campuses have multiple exit doors. We need additional card reader access for those doors to control access in and out of those buildings.”

Another option according to Jones, is to add additional cameras for athletic fields and parking lots at the districtÂ’s high and middle schools. The school board could vote on the use of the additional funding at their July board meeting.
