Carroll County Releases Initial Budget

Carroll CountyÂ’s Financial Department released Commission Chairman Marty SmithÂ’s proposed budget for the fiscal year 2019 on Tuesday. And despite suggestions during the last several months that it may propose a millage rate increase, it did not.

“The proposed budget anticipates general fund revenues of $50, 263, 500. This is an increase of $981, 800 over the fiscal year ’18 budget. This is based on real and economic growth. There is no anticipated millage rate increase in the proposed budget,” said Carroll County Finance Director Leamon Stephens when presenting the chairman’s budget proposal to the board of commissioners last night. “The budget hearing will be held to obtain public input on May 29th at 10:00 AM.”

The board of commissioners has scheduled a budget work session to review the chairmanÂ’s proposal for Tuesday, May 8th.
