Bremen Schools Closing From March 16th – 27th

Bremen Schools Superintendent, David Hicks sent the following letter to parents on Thursday evening, march 12, 2020:

This afternoon, we have participated in multiple meetings which included conversations from the Governor’s office, the Georgia Department of Education, the Georgia Department of Public Health and surrounding school systems. Based on that, I have decided to cancel school from Monday, March 16th through Friday, March 27th. A decision regarding March 30th through April 3rd will be made later based on the most up to date information pertaining to COVID-19.

We were very hesitant and initially resistant to making this call as we know the hardship this places on our families. However, in the end, like most all other school systems around us, I decided to err on the side of cancelling, out of an abundance of caution.

Tomorrow will be a normal day of school as we want our teachers to have time to talk with students about the instructional activities planned over the next two weeks. Communication of work/assignments/discussion will occur online. It’s important to communicate with your child’s teachers if you do not have reliable or existent internet service or available devices for children to use. We will have alternative options in those situations. This is very much uncharted territory for all of us so we will learn as we go and make adjustments as needed to this plan.

Regarding extracurricular activities and competitions, more information will be communicated soon.
