McClendon Wins County Commission Special Election

The special election on Tuesday for District One Carroll County Commissioner is over and Montrell McClendon will be joining the county commission. McClendon won convincingly, receiving nearly 75% of the 290 votes. Election officials said this was a high turnout for a special election, and for a district of this size.

McClendon, an assistant principal at Carrollton Elementary School, is eager to begin his new position, “Getting in and getting to know the county and the intricacies of the county. Meeting with the other commissioners and finding out what we can do to move this county forward. At the same time, I do want to hold fast to do what I said that I would do. That is have smart growth in Carroll County, foster a high quality of life and support public safety.”

Rosie Holley congratulated McClendon and said this is not a deterrent in serving her community, “It is a blessing and I will support Mr. McClendon in everything that he does. I look forward to working with him because I am still in the community and I am not going away. My voice will still be heard throughout Carroll County.”

McClendon will be taking over Trent North’s unexpired term that ends in 2020.
