Neva Lomason Library to Close for Renovation

The West Georgia Regional Library system announced this week that the Neva Lomason Memorial Library in Carrollton is temporarily closing beginning in April as part of the ongoing construction to add an administrative office building and new library space.

April 1 will be the libraryÂ’s last day of operation. This coincides with the 25th anniversary of the current incarnation of the library, which was built in 1967 and was last renovated in 1993.

In order to offer uninterrupted service for library patrons, a micro-library will be provided at the Stallings Community Center at 118 S. White Street, beginning April 8. The log cabin at 102 N. Lakeshore Drive will serve as a small childrenÂ’s library.

The Carrollton Center for the Arts will be the host for summer reading programs during the summer months of June and July, and pop-up libraries will continue to appear during the coming months.

The current 18,000-square-foot building will be adding 10,000 more square footage of space to allow staff members the freedom of mobility, as well as more meeting space, public computers and easily accessible collections.

The $3.3 million renovation will begin in April and is expected to be completed December 2019
