Tragedy Over the Holiday Weekend

Dinwiddie County, Va -- Tragedy struck for a local family during the holiday when a six year old boy was killed in a single vehicle crash. His mother now faces numerous charges in relation to the crash.

According to the Richmond Times Dispatch, the crash occurred Friday about 8:00 A.M. in Dinwiddie County, Virginia.

According to the preliminary investigation conducted by Virginia State Police, a 2007 Hyundai Veracruz driven by Larhonda C. Coleman of Carrollton was traveling south on Interstate 85 when it ran off the road and overturned several times.

Six year old Anthony Tyrone Coleman Jr., also of Carrollton, was in the back seat wearing no safety restraints, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The mother and an adult male passenger, who was sitting in the front, were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Coleman was charged with reckless driving, failure to secure a child, and failure to wear a seat belt.
State police said fatigue was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Family members took to Facebook over the weekend and asked for friends to keep the family in their prayers. One family member posted, "For those of you who know our family personally, you knew that junior was our everything."
