Two Locals Apply for Interim DA Position

Carrol County Ga -- On Thursday, two local attorneys said they are filling out the required paperwork in hopes of being appointed by Governor Nathan Deal to fill the soon-to-be vacant Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney position.

The State of Georgia this week announced that they were accepting nominations to succeed Peter J. Skandalakis, who is stepping down at the end of the year.

Both Assistant District Attorney Jeff Hunt and former Assistant District Attorney and Carrollton City Councilman Met Lane told WLBB radio they will be submitting an application.

Whoever Deal appoints would serve in the role for most of 2018, until a special election in November allows voters to choose the next District Attorney.
