GBI Investigating Officer Involved Shooting In Carroll

The GBI has been called into to investigate an officer involved shooting that happened in Carroll County early morning Monday.
Carroll County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Brad Robinson tells WLBB Radio that a veteran deputy was conducting a routine patrol in the eastern part of the county when he came upon what he considered to be suspicious vehicle parked outside of the Dollar General Store off of East Highway 166.
"At some point during his investigation of this person outside the store, the deputy fired his weapon and struck the person in his hand," Robinson said. "It's a routine situation that we notify the GBI when any officer is involved in a shooting."
The wounded individual was taken to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton with a non-life threatening injury.
