Carrollton City Graduation Rates Decline

Carrollton Ga -- The graduation rate for Carrollton High School dropped slightly in 2017, however it remains above the state average according to data released last week by the Georgia Department of Education.

311 students graduated out of the 358 students in the 2017 Carrollton High School cohort, Giving the class of 2017 an 86.9% rate.

That number is about 4% less than last year when more than 91 % of Carrollton City Schools students who started as freshman in 2012 graduated in May 2016.

For the state, Georgia's high school graduation rate has increased for the fifth straight year, from 79.4% in 2016 to 80.6%  in 2017.

This is the first year Georgia's graduation rate has risen above 80% using the adjusted cohort calculation now required by federal law.
