Maria Evacuees coming to Carrollton

Carrollton Ga -- The University of West Georgia's Office of Community Engagement is helping to find shelter locally for approximately 135 Hurricane Maria evacuees from the U.S Virgin Islands. The evacuees were due to arrive in Atlanta Monday evening and were expected to stay overnight at the Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta.

The group is expected to be chartered to Carrollton today. The program coordinator with UWG's Office of Community Engagement, Amanda Wright, has asked if any groups or individuals have space available to accommodate any of these evacuees, please let them know your short or long term capacity. She says some of the evacuees may have pets.
