Bridges to Run for Ward 1 Seat

Carrollton Ga -- A Carrollton woman has decided that her first venture into local politics should be a run for the city council seat representing residents in the first ward. Small business owner Jacqueline Elaine Bridges hopes to unseat long time councilman and current Mayor Pro Tem Gerald Byrd.

"A lot of people in my community have been asking me to run for the city council for like three years. So I prayed about it and that motivated me to run," says Bridges

Bridges holds a certificate from the Dudley School of Cosmetology, and currently owns a beauty salon and a hair care line.

Bridges says: "A lot of issues that are in Ward One is communication, community development as far as reconnecting back with one another, jobs and I'm telling people that we have to renew."

We expect to hear a lot more from bridges in the coming months ahead of election day on November 7th. She has agreed to sit down for the WLBB Community Voice program in the near future.
