GBI To Conclude Investigation Into 'Inmate Death' This Month

The GBI plans to present the findings of their investigation into the death of a Carroll County Jail inmate by the end of this month.
Agent-In-Charge Fred Wimberly told WLBB Radio Tuesday that once the report is complete, it will be sent to the Coweta Circuit District Attorney's Office. He says the DA's office could decide if the evidence suggests any wrong-doing.
34-year old Clifford Mintor of Bowdon was taken into custody this past march, after deputies say he had threatened his wife with a shotgun. Mintor had allegedly fired two shots on his property in the presence of officers.
The incident occurred on a Friday morning.
Minter was taken to jail. At some point, he was placed on administrative watch and "was checked on every fifteen minutes," according to Chief Deputy, Brad Robinson.
The next day--Saturday evening-- Mintor was found unresponsive. He was taken to Tanner Medical Center where he was pronounced dead around 7:00pm.
Agent Wimberly says the investigative report into the inmate's death is almost complete. When complete, it will be turned over to the district attorney's office. He expects that will happen within the next couple of weeks.

Wimberly would provide any of the details within the report on Tuesday.
