City Considers Lessening Penalty For Pot Possession

One local city could soon consider lessening the penalty for those getting caught with small amounts of marijuana.
Temple officials are reviewing the pros and cons of eliminating jail time and reducing fines from one-thousand dollars to $75 for anyone caught with less than an ounce of pot.
The proposal suggested last week by councilwoman Penny Ransom would likely mirror an ordinance passed by the City of Clarkston in 2016.
Ransom has suggested that the current punishment simply does not fit the crime; and, that the potential consequences are too severe and far reaching.
