Carrollton City Says Repairs For Croft Street Wooden Bridge To Begin Next Week

Permits were issued this week from Norfolk Southern Railroad (NSR), and the City contractor (GRC Stonewater) will begin making the necessary repairs to the Croft Street wooden bridge starting next Monday, March 13, 2017.

GRC Stonewater anticipates completion of the repairs to take 2-3 weeks.  The NSR permit requires that a NSR Flagman be present at all times when the contractor is making the repairs. This requirement extends GRC Stonewater’s initial anticipated completion time to 2 weeks as they must work around the NSR Flagmen’s schedule. The contractor will also inspect and make any needed additional repairs during this construction window while the repair permit is in effect.

"Again, we apologize for any inconvenience the Croft Street wooden bridge closure has caused. Barring no unforeseen issues – we are hopeful that the bridge will be reopened by April 1, 2017," City Manager Tim Grizzard said this week.
