County Commissioner Dies After Heart Attack

Our condolences and thoughts go out to the family of Haralson County Commissioner Donnie Ridley who passed away Sunday.
Friends of his family tell us that the 62-year old Ridley was working in Piedmont, Alabama Sunday. He was driving a truck when he apparently had a heart attack. His truck drove into a ditch. The truck’s passenger was reportedly uninjured.
Ridley had attended his first meeting as District-Three Commissioner this month after being elected to that seat in 2016.
Ridley was a graduate of Haralson County High school in 1972.

He has operated several small businesses locally during the last 40 years, including River City Propane in Tallapoosa — a business with more than 80 employees — which he has owned with his brother for the last decade.

Ridley leaves behind his wife, Judy, three children and five-grandchildren.
