Overnight Fire Burns 529 Acres In Northwest GA

Some homeowners in northwest Haralson County woke up this morning to fire ash on their cars and yards.

Haralson County Fire Chief Brian Walker says 529 acres burned across Treat Mountain on Folsum Road in Haralson and Treat Mountain Road in Polk County during the night.

“The fire was 100 percent contained at 3:00 Friday morning by the Haralson Polk Carroll County GA Forestry unit with Haralson County Fire standing by for structures protection in the area, Walker said. “If you have woke up to ash on your yards and vehicles and you live in the northwest Haralson area, that’s where the ash has come from.”

Walker said this was the biggest open land fire he has ever worked.

He commended the GA Forestry units on the scene for a quick response and a job well done protecting the life and safety of the citizens of Haralson County.
