Water Conservation Getting Better, But Not At Goal Set By HCWA

Haralson County Water Authority Executive Director Charlie Walker on Thursday praising customers’ efforts in conserving water this week, although the level is not as low as the Authority would hope.
When the Authority issued the Drought Level Response III last week, official said the Authority’s goal for daily distribution from the water plant would be to reduce consumption from 2.7 million gallons per day down to 1.8 or 2.0 million gallons per day. Walker said Wednesday’s check showed consumption has dropped to 2.3 million gallons.
Officials continue working to remove obstructions to let more water in.
Thursday, Walker said officials are taking water from the VFW Lake In Buchanan which dumps into the Tallapoosa River via Little River.
He says conservation is still critically important, “but with the water we are getting from our neighbors, we are making it through this difficult time.”
