Hiram Man Facing Charges After Wreck Fatally Injures Off Duty Officer

Investigators with the Georgia State Patrol say charges are pending against a 20-year old Hiram man following a Wednesday evening collision that resulted in the death of an off-duty Temple Police officer.
According to the GSP report:
On September 14, at approximately 6:40 p.m., a 1996 Harley Davidson was traveling east on Rainey Rd. A 2012 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling west on Rainey Rd. attempting to make a left turn onto Taylors Gin Rd. The pickup truck failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle.  The driver of the motorcycle turned into the path of pickup truck. The pickup truck struck the motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as 35-year old David W. Head of Temple. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Head has worked with Temple Police for about a year, according to a fellow officer.
