Carrollton Appoints Cultural Arts Center Superintendent

The City of Carrollton is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Tim Chapman to the position of Cultural Arts Center Superintendent.
 
Mr. Chapman, a native of Valdosta, Georgia, is a graduate of Georgia Southern University where he attained a Master’s Degree in Recreation Administration with concentration in Therapeutic Recreation and a minor in Psychology.
 
Mr. Chapman has served as the Executive Director of the Averitt Center for the Arts in Statesboro, Georgia, for the past thirteen (13) years. Prior to 2003, Tim developed extensive professional experience in various positions including: Senior Sports Manager for Special Olympics Georgia, VSA Arts Alabama Executive Director, Therapeutic Recreation Center Director, Adjunct Faculty, Clinical Director of Activity Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation Program Director, Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, and Residential Camp Assistant Director.
 
Mr. Chapman has worked in the public, private and non-profit sectors throughout his career. His background ranges from program and facility management; health and fitness; higher education; and arts administration. He has served as a Board Member of the Georgia Arts Network and is a current member of Georgia Arts Network and Arts Georgia, as well as an active member of Georgia Presenters through the Fox Theatre Institute. In his most recent
capacity, Mr. Chapman served as an Ex-Officio Board Member for the Statesboro/Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce, Statesboro Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority. Previously, Mr. Chapman served as a Board Member for VSA Arts Alabama and Alabama Senior Games; Alabama Governor’s Task Force for Individuals with Disabilities; and was an affiliate of the National Recreation and Park Association and the Georgia & Alabama Parks & Recreation Association.
