New Council-Person To Be Appointed In Mt. Zion

Mayor and city council in Mount Zion could soon appoint someone to fill council’s vacant post two seat.
Long-time councilman Earlis McGraw passed away last week leaving that seat open. McGraw was 80 years old. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, and a retired Carroll County Fireman with thirty years of service.
According to Mt. Zion’s charter, the three remaining council-persons along with the mayor can vote on a new member to finish out McGraw’s term, which ends in 2017.

If the four cannot agree on a person, the mayor can then appoint someone on his own, but that person would serve only through November of 2016. Voters would then choose a candidate during a special election at the same time as the general election.
