Shot Fired During Domestic Issue

Carrollton Police are interviewing a 43-year old Carrollton man and his girlfriend after investigators say one fired a shot at the other within their Harmony Oaks Apartment home early this morning.

CPD Captain Shannon Cantrell believes Kevin Hamrick fired a single shot from his bed, through a closed door after his girlfriend left the room.

“Around 5:00 this morning, following a disagreement… “Cantrell says. “We believe the girlfriend closed the door behind her and Hamrick fired a single shot in her direction. She got scared and called 911.”

When police arrived at the Matthews Avenue address, Hamrick—who has a prosthetic leg— barricaded himself in the bathroom.

“He talked to us, communicated well for about two and a half hours, before surrendering,” Cantrell said.

Cantrell says no injuries are reported.

Hamrick will likley be charged with aggravated assault.
