Teen Charged For Several Auto Break-Ins

On 04-08-16, Officer Clark Cleveland and Officer Alyssa Hyatt began investigating multiple complaints of vehicles being broken into at the Hometown Lodge. The investigation led the officers to McDonald’s on Hwy 61 where the suspect was located.
The suspect was identified as Travon Lapez Crowder, 17 years old, from Whitesburg GA. The officers found that he was in possession of a laptop computer, GPS units, prescription drugs, and credit cards taken from the vehicles. The officers also found marijuana and a bottle of wine in Crowder’s possession.
Crowder was arrested and charged with three (3) counts of Entering Auto, Possession of a Schedule IV Narcotic, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, and Underage Possession of Alcohol.
The Villa Rica Police have identified three victims from the entering auto but have reason to believe that there are additional victims. The case remains under investigation as detectives try to identify these victims.
