Mom Charged With DUI After Crash With Kids

Carrollton Police are reminding area residents about the dangers of using prescription drugs while driving— after the effects of the opioid Lorcet may have been the reason a Bowdon woman crashed her vehicle into another over the weekend.
CPD Cpl. Brandon Podarus says the woman had her two young children in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Fortunately, neither was injured.
“We have zero tolerance for drivers under the influence… and that’s for alcohol or prescription drugs,” Podarus said. “The dangers associated keep us enforcing the laws to the highest extent. When we see kids involved, we don’t hesitate to do everything we can to keep them safe.”
The woman was charged with two counts of child endangerment and DUI.
The children were released to their grandmother.
The woman also faces a charge of using “fighting words” after arguing with the other driver; and allegedly using “borderline racist comments” toward the arresting police officer.
