Local Business Owner Dies Following Farming Accident

Funeral services will be held Wednesday for a local business owner who died Sunday after getting trapped under a bull-dozer while working on his own property.

57-year old Greggory Eugene Bearden owned Bearden Tractor & Farm Equipment on Bankhead Highway and is the husband of Carroll County Tax Commissioner Vickie Bearden.

Mr. Greggory “Gregg” Eugene Bearden, owner of Bearden Tractor and Equipment, died Sunday, July 20, 2014 from injuries sustain in a tractor accident. He was 57.

Gregg was born in Carrollton, Georgia on August 6, 1956, the son of Eugene R. Bearden and the late Mildred Skinner Bearden. He owned and operated Bearden Tractor and Equipment for 21 years and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Ingram Bearden; sons, Kevin Bearden of Carrollton, Corey Bearden of Carrollton; father, Gene Bearden of Carrollton; sister and brother-in-law, Terri and Tony Alexander of Carrollton; mother-in-law, Carolyn Creel of Carrollton; grandchildren, Kandace Bearden, Kacey Bearden, Wesley Bearden and his mother, Jessica Nash who was like a daughter to Gregg, Autumn Phillips, Addison Phillips and Kyler Prather. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred S. Bearden; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tate Bearden; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Skinner; father-in-law, Robert Ingram; sister-in-law, Cherry Barker and brother-in-law, Barry Ingram.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 23 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Bo Hendon officiating.

Pallbearers will be Danny Aderhold, Kenny Ayers, Dennis Jordan, Mark Herrin, Steve Bryant, Steve Moore, Tom Fricks and Lamar Fricks.

Interment will be in Abilene Baptist Church Cemetery.
