Authorities Locate Remains Of Missing Villa Rica Man

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has cancelled the lookout and Mattie’s Call for Jimmy Wilkerson, (80) who has been missing since Mother’s Day (May 11, 2014)

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with other agencies, including the Alpha Search and Rescue Team (ASAR) and others located the body of Mr. Wilkerson adjacent to a logging road and power line in Douglas County.
Property care takers located Mr. Wilkerson’s truck stuck in a creek on a power line near the logging road access. The tag number was provided to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office who after receiving the alert placed on the tag, notified Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Investigators.

Both, Carroll and Douglas County Sheriff’s Officers conducted a search of the surrounding area but were unable to locate Mr. Wilkerson before darkness. The ASAR (K-9) team and along with horse mounted and field search teams began searching the area shortly after daybreak. Mr. Wilkerson’s remains were located by the cadaver k9s within a few hours of their search.

There were no signs of foul play at the scene. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is handling the death investigation and recovery. Mr. Wilkerson’s remain have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime Lab for further examination.
