Fire Destroys 20 Acres Of Pine In Haralson County

Fire Officials in Haralson County say a land owner lost approximately 20 acres of property in a fire Saturday. It was the third serious fire reported in Haralson County over a 3-day period. The second which they suspect was intentionally started.

Haralson County Fire Chief Brian Walker says the first 911 call came in early Thursday morning regarding a house fire on Providence Church Road. The abandoned home was fully engulfed in flames upon arrival, he said. Arson is suspected.

A house fire on Bowdon Street Thursday evening is being considered accidental. No one was home at the time and no injuries have been reported.

The third fire was a "set fire" on Broad Street near the river according to Walker.

"Burned up approximately 20 acres of young, planted Pine Trees that the owner has lost," Walker said. "Before we extinguished this fire, a mobile home park was endangered along with nine other structures in the area."
