Friday Marks Anniversary Of Deadly Plane Crash

Today is the 37th anniversary of a plane crash in Dallas that killed 72 people.

Southern Airways flight 242 was flying from Huntsville, Alabama to Atlanta when the pilots made the decision to make a forced landing after getting caught in a severe thunderstorm.

Twenty passengers survived the crash, along with two flight attendants.

Also, yesterday was the 40th anniversary of a super tornado outbreak in Georgia that killed 17 people and injured 104 others. At least 7 tornadoes struck 13 north Georgia counties including Haralson on April 3, 1974, causing an estimated $15 million in damage.

One death was reported just east of Buchanan.

In all that day, 13 states were struck by twisters.
