School Principal Accused Of Attempting To Meet Child For Sex

Officials say a Villa Rica man arrested over the weekend for the electronic possession of child pornography is the principal of Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Douglasville.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says 56-year old John McGill is one of 14 individuals arrested during Operation Broken Heart; an investigation with the goal of arresting individuals who may seek to talk with children online for the purposes of meeting them in person.
Villa Rica Attorney Mac Pilgrim has been hired by McGill’s family and he told WAGA-TV Sunday that he plans to look at how the GBI sting was conducted and how exactly his client was apprehended.
“Right now these are just allegations… We don’t know the truth. We don’t know all the facts yet. We don’t know what happened. We don’t know if he was in the wrong place at the wrong time—that’s happened before,” Pilgrim said. “I believe the man has earned the right for us to see what happened and find out what the facts really are.”

In a Facebook statement Sunday, Douglas County School Superintendent Dr. Gordon Pritz said that McGill has been suspended by the system pending the law enforcement investigation.
McGill has been a principal for about 16 years and has been an educator for over two decades.
