Family Rescued From Floods/ Roads Still Closed Following Storms

Plenty of rain in west Georgia Sunday.
Flooding still causing some problems in Haralson County today.
At one point Sunday, seven roads were closed off by the county’s emergency management agency. Director Brian Walker says three of those roads are still closed: Beach Creek Road, Bethany Church Road, and Kelly Road.
Emergency crews were called to Riverside Mobile Home Park off of Broad Street this morning. They had to rescue three families (18 people) trapped inside their homes. Walker says the rising Tallapoosa River brought two to three feet of water surrounding their homes. "Our biggest concerns had to do with the electricity in those homes," he said.
It’s estimated that between five and seven inches of rain fell in Haralson Saturday night and Sunday. The Tallapoosa River rose 13 feet during that time.
Carroll County had four roads that were closed because of flooding Sunday. Those roads were clear by Monday morning.
