Temple To Get Library

The city of Temple could have a new library by the end of 2014.

Carroll County’s district-three commissioner Tommy Lee said Monday that in discussions regarding potential projects for 2015 SPLOST funds, educators encouraged a library; noting that many area students don’t have access to computers and Internet at home.

Plans are that a library would fill the former-bank-building now used as city hall.

Groundbreaking for the new city hall and police headquarters is expected within the next couple of weeks and could be complete by the end of 2014.

The new library could be ready for use a short time after that, Mayor Rick Ford said Monday.

“Thanks to district commissioner Lee who did an excellent job in identifying some discretionary funds within SPLOST,” Ford said. “As far as I know, Temple has never had a library. So now, Temple will have a public library and computer lab.”

More good news for Temple is expected by the end of this week, Ford added. We should learn the name of the business moving into the city’s industrial park and how many jobs it could be bringing to the area.
